Intensiv und interaktiv haben sich Teilnehmenden aus Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft während der „Expert*innen-Tage Verbundwerkstoffe“ (29. bis 30. Juni 2021) untereinander fachlich ausgetauscht sowie ihr Netzwerk gepflegt und erweitert. Den über 70 Teilnehmenden der Veranstaltung boten sich unter anderem ein Dutzend jeweils halbstündige Übersichtsvorträge, welche die gesamte Bandbreite der Themenwelt um Verbundwerkstoffe und Werkstoffverbunde abbildeten. Ein Vorteil dieser virtuellen Veranstaltung zeigte sich in den drei zugeschalteten ausländischen Wissenschaftler*innen.

An exciting program took place that included new reactions, design of enzymes, understanding enzyme mechanisms, demonstrations of applications, computational methods, (chemo)enzymatic cascades and inspiration from biosynthesis as well as chemo-inspired reactions.
Der 49.GDCh Lebensmittelchemikertag war ,trotz kurzfristiger Verlegung von Vor-ort auf Online-Format eine attraktive Plattform für ein Vortragsprogramm, Postersessions und eine virtuelle Industrieausstellung.
Neben den anderen DPG Tagungen wie der Surface 21, wurde auch die Sektion Materie und Kosmos (SMUK) als online live Event abgehalten und transportierte so das Programm aus Vorträgen, Postern und vielen anregenden Disskussionen aus dem üblichen Format in den digitalen Raum.
Under the proven DGM conference platform, over 45 hours of live videos were produced on sustainability in materials science. Celebrating it's 100th anniversary, the field of macromolecular chemistry was never more important than today. Subsequentely the "Makro 2021" focused on the future of polymer science, from dealing with present challenges and enabling future solutions. Internationally renowned speakers accepted the invitation to discuss past, present and emerging future topics of macromolecular chemistry and physics.
The EUROMAT 2021, was the 1st virtual EUROMAT to exchange views on the status and future developments in this field. The conference brought together 1500 experts of the international materials society, from 46 countries for networking and discussing the most important issues facing the industry and academic research.

The Meeting offered the possibility for fruitful exchange about current developments and research results. Furthermore it proved, the the online Format doesn't hinder the conducting of chemical experiments.
The Max Planck Symposium is an intensive, two-day career conference serving as a platform to connect international Max Planck Alumni and Max Planck Early Career Researchers of all disciplines and Institutes. The topic of every symposium is suggested and realized by the participants themselves, who are then supported by high level experts and invited guests.
Core objectives of the DPG are the sharing of knowledge and the promotion of young talents; therefore, the DPG-(Frühjahrs)Tagungen (DPG (Spring) Meetings) are an important platform upon which students can present their first master or diploma thesis topics and discuss them with scientists. The comprehensive acceptance of presentations given by young scientists in the conference program is also a unique feature of the DPG-(Frühjahrs)Tagungen (DPG (Spring) Meetings) at the international level. At the same time, these meetings are of great importance for getting in touch with other scientists.
The conference presented contributions from America, Asia, and Europe. The program comprised keynote talks and panel discussions in a central time slot such that all continents could participate live. Additional talks and poster sessions in the morning and afternoon allowed for direct exchange Asia/Europe and Europe/America, and on-demand access for other time zones. This format proved successful with high live attendance and vivid discussions despite the time zone challenge.
This symposium addressed the many ways that data transparency contributes to the research progress. Attendees have learned from leaders in the FAIR and open data movements who are advocating for better practices in their fields and demonstrating their commitment in their own work.
Die 55. Metallographie-Tagung fand vom 29.09.2021 bis 01.10.2021 statt. An drei Tagen wurden die klassischen materialographischen Präparationsmethoden und Schadensanalyse sowie die additiven Fertigungsverfahren und Aspekte der Elektromobilität behandelt. Tomographische Verfahren bildeten einen Schwerpunkt, da diese neue Charakterisierungsmöglichkeiten eröffnen, die teilweise bereits in der Industrie eingesetzt werden.
The 9th International Conference on Modeling and Simulation of Metallurgical Processes in Steelmaking (STEELSIM 2021) offered a great opportunity for the experts in the field of numerical modelling and simulation, from both academic research area and ironmaking/steelmaking industry, to share their knowledge and new scientific/technical achievements, and to discuss the common challenges and potential pathways for future developments.
LightMAT 2021 provided a platform for academic and industrial researchers, scientists, and engineers to present and discuss the recent development and progress made in Magnesium, Aluminium, Titanium and their alloys and materials combinations. Covered topics were powder for MAM, AM Process- and Quality control, Post-processing of AM parts and many more.
Die Ingenieure der Stahlindustrie und stahlverwandter Branchen trafen sich, um sich zu informieren, auszutauschen, neue Kontakte zu knüpfen und wiederzusehen. Neben einem hochkarätigen Vortragsprogramm und begleitender Fachausstellung war ausreichend Zeit für Fachgespräche und Networking beim zünftigen Hüttenabend. Spannende Fachvorträge, aufschlussreiche Diskussionen und interessante Postersessions konnten durch die Teilnehmer vor Ort und im Netz disskutiert werden.

5th Bioinspired Materials 2020 Will be remembered for a long time by both participants and organizers. On the one hand, because the topics covered and lectures held presented exciting as well as groundbreaking content, but above all because of the fact that the international conference was initially on the verge of being cancelled, only to turn into a lighthouse project of the German Society for Materials Science (DGM).
4th Hybrid Materials and Structures 2020. Die als Webinar durchgeführte Konferenz erfreute sich inhaltlich als auch organisatorisch großen Zuspruchs und dient der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Materialkunde (DGM) damit als weitere Blaupause für zukünftige auf diese Art durchgeführte Veranstaltungen.
Die als Web-Konferenz durchgeführte Fachtagung „Werkstoffe und Additive Fertigung“ vom 13. bis 15. Mai 2020 brachte für alle Beteiligten gleich mehrere wertvolle Erkenntnisse. Einerseits, dass der wissenschaftliche Erkenntnistransfer auch in Zeiten von COVID-19 weiter vorangetrieben wird, sowie andererseits die erfolgreiche technische Umsetzbarkeit einer mehrsträngigen Veranstaltung über das Internet.
Das als Web-Konferenz gehaltene Symposium „Fatigue Design and Materials Defects“ hat bei allen Beteiligten zufriedene Gesichter zurückgelassen – und vielen neuen Input. Die zweisträngige Veranstaltung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Materialkunde (DGM) vom 26. bis 28. Mai 2020 bot dem internationalen Publikum spannende Einblicke und über die Vorträge hinaus die Möglichkeit des persönlichen Austauschs untereinander.
Zwar fiel der weithin beliebte Gesellschaftsabend aus, doch die Teilnehmer der 54. Metallographie-Tagung wussten sich dennoch miteinander zu vernetzen und dabei ein Kaltgetränk zu genießen – auf virtueller Ebene. Die #MET2020 war Corona-bedingt von Saarbrücken aus ins Internet „umgezogen“, was dem Zuspruch der Veranstaltung jedoch keinerlei Abbruch tat.
Mit mehr als 120 Fachvorträgen, Live-Chats und interaktiven Funktionen bot der DVS CONGRESS online ein abwechslungsreiches und spannendes Programm. Die Ergebnisse aus vielen, aktuell abgeschlossenen Forschungsprojekten der Forschungsvereinigung Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e. V. des DVS floßen ebenfalls in die Fachtagung ein.
With around 1000 participants from 45 countries, the scientific program was underpinned by six plenary lectures from world-renowned scientists. Among the highlights of MSE 2020 was a highlight symposium on South Korea, the partner country of MSE 2022, organized by young scientists.
The "CellMAT - International Conference on Cellular Materials" was held for the first time in 2010. Against this background, the 2020 edition of #CELLMAT (October 7-9, 2020) marked a very special anniversary - for all involved. On the one hand, the organizing committee wanted to put together a scientific program worthy of the scale of a decades-long success story, and on the other hand, participants came together via the online platform developed by the German Society for Materials Science (DGM).
Das 16. Kolloquium des Arbeitskreises Prozessanalytik fand in diesem Jahr als digitale Veranstaltung statt und behandelte eine Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen Themen. In insgesamt vier Hauptsitzungen wurde beispielhaft gezeigt, wie Effiziente Prozesse durch Prozessanalytik erreicht werden kann.
Current and past RoHan scholarship holders from Germany, Vietnam and Indonesia presented their research as well as their experience inside the RoHan Graduate School. Experts from outside and inside were invited to extend the RoHan network. New information about the next RoHan phase and future scholarships were given. Scientists, Professors and students all around the world were invited to get in touch with the RoHan Alumnis as well as the coordinators in Vietnam and Germany!
